Obligatory Google Street View post
The face recognition software used by Google to blur people out has "produced some false positives", like this one in Béal Feirste. Google say they've fixed it, but it's only unblurred from certain angles.

Street View hasn't made it to Bootle yet (we only got electricity and running water a few years ago), so it'll be a while before you have to skip past my "ooh, look at my house" post. If I knew when they were coming, I'd tidy the place up.

You can, however, see some of [info]giro_playgirl's dresses hanging in the window of her old house, which is quite cool.

As my friend on twitter says:

austinjp: Dear Metro "newspaper", can I have a job? I too can recycle bilge about Google Street View that I read online months ago. Kthxbai

[Worth noting that no one owns the copyright of their image, and in being in a public place no one can be stopped from photographing / videoing you. Difficult grey area of intellectual copyright law - lots on flickr about 'candid' street photography and when you have to get the subject's permission.]

Getting the subject's permission is one thing, but haven't there been quite a few cases of photographers in London being stopped by the Police under anti-terrorism legislation?

People have been S&S'd under section 44 (one a date whilst waiting for me outside work because he had a Nikon camera around his neck!), and the Amateur Photography league (or whatever the lobby group is) are working with Home Office to try and stop photographer's getting harrassed...although actually that doesn't ahve much to do with the copyright of one's face...or does it and I've missed your point? :)

I'm still giving praise to the great God Google that you can't see my tits or your arse in that picture.
